Events  Alliance Française French Film Festival in New Zealand

One of the largest French film festivals outside France is about to start and we are so excited about it! New Zealand French Film Festival has been organized for 10 years now (2016 is the 10th edition) and there is no doubt that movies are expected to be even more surprising! 

About the creation of the Festival:
The Festival is organized by French Film Arts Trust (FFAT) in partnership with the local Alliances Françaises and sponsors (TV5MONDE is proud to be one of them).
There are 9 Alliances Françaises in New Zealand: Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Hamilton, Nelson, Palmerston North, Timaru, Wellington, Whangarei plus 1 in the Cooks Islands.

About the event in 2016:

The Festival will take place from February 17th until April 13th 2016 and in 12 cities across New Zealand: Wellington; Auckland; Christchurch; Timaru; Nelson; New Plymouth; Tauranga; Arrowtown; Palmerston North; Hamilton; Havelock North and Dunedin.
This year, the Alliance Française French Film Festival is proud to feature Valley of Love, starring the iconic Isabelle Huppert and Gérard Depardieu, as this year’s poster image. 


About the opening ceremony:
The official launch will be February 17th. The Opening night will take place in Wellington with the broadcasting of Rosalie Blum by Julien Rappeneau (Noémie Lvovsky, Kyan Khojandi, Alice Isaaz, Anémone, Philippe Rebbot)

About the closing ceremony:
It has been decided that the masterpiece playing on the closing night will be Daybreak, by Marcel Carné (Jean Gabin, Jules Berry, Arletty, Mady Berry, Jacqueline Laurent), produced in 1939. According to the Festival, it’s a French must-see classic.

About the 2016 programme:
As for what will be presented in between: what a program! ☺ This year,  the Festival presents not less than 37 titles! This year sounds very very exciting! We will discover a wide range of artists like Juliette Binoche, Emmanuelle Bercot, famous titles like Dheepan, all kinds of genres from Comedy (Microbe & Gasoline) to Romance (Un plus Une) and Documentary (Once Upon a Forest Once Upon a Forest) or TV Series (Un village Français)...
