A dig performed by the French National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research has revived interest in a forgotten place just outside Paris. Fort Saint-Sébastien was a training camp for the armies of Louis XIV. This discovery reveals the excellent military preparedness of elite troops around the time of the first professional army in France's history.
